The Value of Community Engagement in Schools
Diana Hornby spoke to the SAHISA Conference on the topic of producing unique graduates and the value of community engagement in schools.
Mrs Hornby has 15-years of experience in the fields of early childhood learning and community development and has been the Director of Community Engagement at Rhodes University since January 2011. Mrs Hornby was also part of a team that established a national network for 70 South African NPOs.
In 2007, Mrs Hornby took over the Angus Gillis Foundation, a rural development NPO with a strong focus on pro-poor models of development. For her work, she received the award of “South Africa’s most influential woman in business and government (Welfare and Community Service).”
