Workshop for New and Aspiring Heads

SAHISA will be holding a new and aspiring heads’ workshop at Kingsmead College on Tuesday 10 and Wesnesday 11 May 2016.

The workshop is designed for Heads who were appointed this year or who have just completed their first or second year, but is open to any head who feels he/she may benefit. This year we have also opened the workshop to any aspiring heads.

The workshop will provide a unique opportunity to celebrate successes and compare experiences with other first-time and aspiring heads.  The workshop is designed to give ideas, skills and knowledge to deal with the challenges typically experienced during headship.

Expected Outcomes include exposure to:

  • fundamentals of school governance
  • legal issues
  • school communication
  • managing staff and board relationships
  • school sustainability
  • peer networking opportunities.

Similar workshops were held in Cape Town in 2013 and in Johannesburg in 2014 and in 2015 and have been well received by attendees.

The cost of the workshop will be approximately R1800 including VAT. This includes presentation materials, meals and a formal dinner on the Tuesday evening, but excludes travel and accommodation.
